Subject: [TS] Cosource.com

Background: Cosource.com, the "cooperative market for open source", is a
site (like the Free Software Bazaar and sourcexchange.com) that lets
people who are willing to pay for a particular peice of open source
software to be written find people willing to write it.
There is a request on Cosource for an outliner application (search for
"outliner"; the headline is "Outliner similar to MORE"). I have
submitted a proposal to modify ThoughtStream to fit the request. This
does not change my overall vision of ThoughtStream in any way. The
specific modifications involved in the proposal involve some much-needed
UI improvements (drag&drop, keyboard navigation and editing) and file
import/export capability (export to plain text or HTML, and
compatibility with gnome-think's file format). The existing branching
structure will be cleaned up, and it will remember which branches are
expanded/collapsed.
Once the proposal gathers enough commitments to meet the target price
($1295; part of that goes to Cosource.com), I will begin work on those
modifications. Until then, I will be working on synchronization. (A
few notes on synchronization: I will have to break backwards data
compatibility with the next PalmOS release, but I will provide a
converter program. There will be a limit of 16 syncable copies of a
single mind, although you can make any number of read-only copies)
Now is your chance to encourage me to work on UI, instead of adding
features and breaking things ;-). Even if you don't contribute any
money, I encourage you to set up an account on cosource and add this
proposal to your watchlist so it will move up on the top requests list.
