I agree that an import/export standard will be essential for any widespread
adoption.
Have you considered preparing a document type definition in XML?
If you put together something concrete, I'd be happy to integrate it into
Lucid.

Is there a place that we can look for existing Document Type Definitions
that would fit?
I wouldn't mind using docbook as the basis for the DTD since it's already
very popular.
Docbook already has a few tags which might be suitable for building the link
between notes/nodes/thoughts.
