I don't know the answer to these questions, but you might try posting them
at http://technocrat.net/952758993/index_html where I've gotten an article
up on the subject. Some of the folks that hang out at Technocrat have had a
lot of exposure to these issues. In particular I'm hoping that Bruce Perens
goes into it a bit (technocrat is his creation).

I don't know much about the patents either, but it shouldn't be hard to drum
up prior art. HTML comes to mind. As do mindmaps, databases, toolbars, etc.
Their patents are pretty broad.
What exactly has to be done to bring prior art to into consideration? Can it
be done without expensive lawyers?
