I think the fact that the Brain is Windows-only helps make a case similar
to the DVD case - the Brain is only available for Windows, and patents like
this one would make it impossible for anyone to bring a similar product to
other platforms. I think the reason it's not getting much notice is
because most free software folks would not have even heard of the Brain,
and when they look at ThoughtStream they think it's just another outliner.
I think this is largely because I find it difficult to express what this
program is, so new users don't understand what it's all about. I think we
should come up with some sort of description/presentation/sample files
which demonstrate what ThoughtStream is good for (especially if we're going
to call the slashdotting hordes to the website). Suggestions for how to
make ThoughtStream understandable for the newbies are welcome.
