A pretty outline view is on my list (and has been since the beginning);
it's just a daunting task on a machine like the Palm. I think someone
once said they wanted to make an outline widget in a shared library;
this is probably the best way to go.

This wouldn't be too hard to hard-code in, but I'd like to see a more
general solution (i.e. advanced searching/filtering)

The checkbox concept is already there in the current version (although
last time I checked it was broken). I want to modularize things more in
the future, so maybe someone could write a 'task' module to do this sort of
thing. (although it would be difficult to partition the modules such
that the leaf-filter described above would work, so maybe this would be
better off in the core)

While we're on the subject, here's a couple other sources for
interesting ideas:

* Nestor - http://www.irpeacs.fr/~zeiliger/nestor.htm
  Saw this on ohs-dev. I haven't had a chance to try the software yet,
  but from the look of the web page, it's the closest to an actual
  implementation of the Memex that the world has ever seen.
* WebDAV - http://www.webdav.org
  This extension of HTTP looks like an ideal protocol for communication
  between ThoughtStream clients and servers.
